Wow, the motion sense/feeling achieved with the very well done D.O.F. and motion blur effects is amazing ! Also, the very dynamic character's pose contributes greatly to this !
The predominant light-blue color palette is very well chosen, too !

Kinda--sorta--Been working my tail off at my job and not having time to do anything creative when I get home except eat and even then that's a chore :) I wanted to do something for Shiba's contest...I've got a few things started, finding the right light combos is a pita. Lights elude me so I rely on box sets and figuring them out is just as bad. I'm working today on some stuff as soon as I have my pancakes

That sucks...it always seems when you're working that you get all the inspirations to do an image and yet you can't because you don't have time. :( heh  I however do see that you've posted a couple of images that I look forward to checking out! :)

I wish you the best of luck in the contest!!  As for lighting, I spend most of my time on that...so important but I know you'll get it figured out. :)

Wow, love the POV, very original and you really feel the tension and fear, especially with those bots on the floor in motion blur. And I love how her hair is swinging.

Thanks, it was fun to do but a bit more difficult than I thought it would be.  You will be pleased to know that "Motion Blur" was used for the mines...time consuming but worth adding the extra oomph to it. :)
OOT does great work on hair movement morphs. :)

We should make a 'Motion Blur' fanclub or something. But yes, definitely worth the extra time.

Once again I think your photography skills, an eye for composition and color balance with an impact, a feel for what camera angle to choose and how wide to go, shine in this 3D work… The result is a very dynamic image and perfectly captured moment… By dynamic I don’t mean just the pose, which of course is top class, but also everything else which leads to picture what may have been happening before and what may transpire right after… I also admire the high level of concentration in the character you are showing here… :)

Ha, thanks Laspe!  Well yes you are right I try to put those skills to use but that is where I botched it...composition.  I cut off her left foot at the wrong place...ankle. boooo  Anyway, it is what it is and I'm glad it is still well received.  Awesome comment!

You are welcome Mel!
And that is what I thought you meant by "botched" here... :)
Many don't pay attention to that (and I notice that in some photography on DA as well), but it happens to be one of the things which always jumps out at me if a render is designed to replicate a photo. If one is going for a cinematic feel, limbs and other body parts not making it into the frame can work with the right composition. I think if you went here with a 3:2 aspect ratio instead of 4:3, or even with something like 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 that would have made the work even more effective.
Either way I'm talking too much... In the end it is a great image indeed! :)

Yep, I knew I couldn't slip that one past you. ha  I agree with you that I should have chosen a different aspect to give me more room and I know that would have made it so much better. :)  You never talk too much Laspe. Always enjoy your feedback.

Excellent pose and expression, plus the movement in the hair, that use of motion blur, and the subtle lens flare thing—oo-la-la.

(Side note, I was on a bike tour with some French women. While talking to each other, they really did say oo-la-la. I thought that was a stereotype, but non).

Great promotional render, Mel.

Thanks London!  I definitely was trying for something a bit different for this one, I love extreme angles sometimes.  Freshens it up a bit I suppose. :)

As for oo-la-la can't really comment on that because I've actually used those words before and I'm not french. LOL

Awesome dynamic picture. Really sucks you into the motion. Again I love the way you make your pictures where a particular colortone is playing the leading roll. In this case the blues. Everything matches! And than the pose the camera pov. I wish I could botch a picture like this :-)

Thanks Rov!  Really love your comment. It really warms me to the bone when someone takes notice of such things because I do try a great deal to balance things with colors etc.  :)
The botching is reference to the composition because I cut off her left foot which is a no no at that point.  Apparently you are never supposed to cut off anyones limbs at the ankle. lol  I know this, but I did it anyway. :(

...ehm..tell me Mel, where in the world did you "botched" this render huh?
Many of us would kill for "botched" renders like this, really! :D
Don't be to hard on yourself, this is another great class render, and we love it! :boogie:
(Well, i do... )
And i love this character from Saiyaness...not used her yet, and i can not use the glitter option for the skin, (because that is only for Iray,) but she skins look awesome!!

umm, yea I need to learn to be more detailed in my explanations. lol  It was the composition I botched.  I cut off her left foot in the wrong place which (photographically speaking) is a no no.  But at the time I was in a rush and couldn't get the angle where I needed it and didn't think it was bad until I checked the final render and didn't have time to go back and rework it. :(
Thank you so much Rian for your kind words, they always mean a great deal to me.      That texture is amazing btw.  I can see myself using it many many times and that's saying a lot in my opinion. :)  However, I did render it in 3delight and surprisingly it looked great!  The only thing is the glitter option isn't available, as you stated.

LMAO, I guess I should have been more explanatory about the botch part.  It was my composition I botched....I shouldn't have cut off her left foot at that point.  Of course that's my photography background speaking. ;p

Okay, "kind of botched", sure.  If I "botched" up a render this bad, it'd be the crowning achievement of my gallery.

I'm just teasing, I know how the details nobody else notices can be irritating to the artist.  But you should be proud of this one, for sure.  The pose is outstanding, I mean, OUTSTANDING.  I tend to call any pose that implies motion "dynamic", but this gives new meaning to the phrase.  I feel like I should reach out and grab her left arm to help steady her.  Everything is dynamic here, she's moving, her hair is moving, and from the camera angle and the references outside the glass, it almost feels like the whole tunnel is moving, too.  Like it isn't enough she's got to get through this tunnel without setting off a bunch of mines, but the tunnel is falling or rotating and the mines are rolling all over the place.

The materials are near-perfect.  The pose and materials for her eyes and inner mouth seem particularly well-done to me.

LOL, sorry.  I think when I make such a remark I should go into further explanation of exactly what I felt I botched.  In this case it was the composition.  I shouldn't have cut off her left foot at the ankle...that's a no no.  It was really throwing me off and I just didn't have time to re render it and could smack myself for not really noticing it or giving it much heed in that moment.  I was happy with the rest of it though.  Wish DS had motion like 3Delight did...doing that in post was tricky for the balls. :)
You really did nail the overall feel of what I was going after.  Those are definitely little mines that she has to navigate at the same time of the force of gravity from the Echo Lima Halls falling...not always an easy thing to pull off and I'm grateful that you noticed. :)   That texture from Saiyaness is pretty damned brilliant.  Can't always say I'm happy with those sort of things. :)
