Labyrinth of Dreams by BlackTalonArts Labyrinth of Dreams by BlackTalonArts
In my dreams is where I exist.

First one of 2018 and I've been messing with this since the end of December on and off.  My goal to start painting more and honestly it was hard because I don't do it as much as I originally set out to.  So everything isn't up to snuff, but I hope you enjoy my possible new direction.

  LoDstart by BlackTalonArts
Here is the base render I started from...see if you can tell everything that I painted. Like one of those spot the differences games. ha

I'm a bit behind with everything, so I hope you are patient while I catch up over the next couple of days.

Much love to all of you.

You have created marvelous work, Mel, and I think it doesn't really matter what was painted and what was rendered, although comparing the two the advantages of the mixed process are clear. What matters is that the image stands out!!!

I looked several times between the render and this work, i i must say; i LOVE what you did with it...It is soft, just like the older painters make their work, and the things you added like the rose and her bracelet, look so good and realistic! You did an amazing job with it, and made it look so much better then the original render, but you where also good with postwork of your renders, but i feel that this is your reall calling...Please make more...please? :nod:Broken Fighting Dome (Kawaii Please)

I'm in an early morning meeting at work which I'm not jazzed about on a Saturday so my normal cheerleading comments for my love of your art is there in mind and soul but I've only had one cup of coffee so far lol.

So here's a flood of favs for one of my fav new artists and great job as always! They have so much soul in them the way I see it! :D

The enhancement with the paint is wonderful!
I used to do a bit of this with photos, and it always amazed me when I would go back and look at the originals.
You have a gift!

Oooooooooooooh!!! This is very beautiful! I love the colours, the lighting and how
polished it looks with the painting. You're a very talented painter! If it wasn't for the
comparison image, you wouldn't be able to tell what was rendered and what was
painted. The chains look wonderful!

But I can play this game! :happybounce:
You've painted the skin; lightened the eyes, added make-up on the face and added
highlights on the body. You've painted the hair and the background (obviously!)
You've painted the ring, the bracelet, the rose and the chain on her outfit. The outfit
has been polished, but whether it was just some adjustments in Photoshop or
overpainting, I can't tell. There was a little pokethrough on the breast that you fixed,
though. The shadows cast by the outfit have been eradicated, which seems to give
the outfit a softer look. Aaaand you've painted the eyebrows.

There is probably more you've done, but this is what I can spot so far. :D

lol I hear clapping, but that could also be the thunder ringing in my ears! ;)
A :glomp: will definitely do! I see your :glomp: and I raise you a :huggle:!

It's a shame that no one else took the time to compare the Before and After
pictures, because it gives an added appreciation for the work and time you
spent on this piece. You only see that when you compare the raw render
and the final postworked version.

C'mon, give us another 'Spot the Difference!' because that was fun! :squee:

LMAO  again, leave it to you to have me literally laughing out loud.  :D

Nah, it's ok they don't.  Many people follow a lot of artists and if they took the time to scour over everything they'd get nothing else done.  BUT when someone does, I even appreciate it more.  When I do another image with a lot of differences I'll do it just for you. :D

Hahaha! I'm very happy to know I made you laugh again! :D

That's a fair point - if everyone did the 'Spot the Difference', you would never get
anything done because you'd be spending all the time comparing the images. And
probably, if you were doing it all the time, dissecting the images and seeing how
much work went into them, they might lose a little of the 'Oooh' factor, which would
be a shame. Once in a while would be okay though!

I'm looking forward to the next 'Spot the Difference'! It will be a challenge now, if I can
spot all the differences in the new piece like I managed with this one. ;)

Thanks Theo! Yea, I'm not sure if rendering the figure in 3delight was the smartest move as everything was a bit too flat but I'm semi pleased with the end.  Just was more about painting practice

I know literally nothing about painting, digital or otherwise, but maybe the render being flat made it a better foundation for you to paint over, rather than fighting built-in highlights and such.

Regardless, I really like the result, and you can't go wrong with cute elven women.  She's also interesting because her pose is shy and she looks a little demure, which is quite a change of pace from your usual elven warriors.  But sometimes a rose is the better weapon for the task at hand...

Hey Theo sorry about the late response.  Been taking a bit of a break from comments and such and now I'm flooded. ha  It's what I get eh?

So very true about it being a bit flat for painting which is why I did it in 3delight but it made some of the shadows very difficult to paint over and get blended properly without doing a whole paint over on the body.  Lesson learned. :)
Thank you so much, I always appreciate you.  I always have a tendency to throw out a so called soft, cutesy or whatever every now and then and yes it feels so odd. lol
